Byggbetong is a family-owned concrete producer with roots going back to 1935, when John Dahlgren founded Dahlgrens Cementgjuteri. The Byggbetong name was introduced in 1973, and the company is still run by the same family today — built on the same principles of quality, long-term thinking, and close customer relationships. We manufacture and deliver ready-mix concrete to both businesses and private customers across northern Sweden, from house foundations to large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects.

With seven plants and our own fleet of concrete trucks, we’re never far from our customers. Our facilities cover Umeå, Örnsköldsvik, the Skellefteå region, and the inland communities around Lycksele, Malå, and Kristineberg. Because concrete needs to be poured within roughly 60–90 minutes of loading to maintain its quality, local presence matters — and for deliveries further afield, we can plan around it with the right additives and logistics.

Our product range covers the demands of both everyday and specialized construction: climate-improved concrete with reduced CO₂ emissions, frost-resistant concrete, shotcrete, underwater concrete, fibre-reinforced concrete, and winter concrete developed for the harsh northern climate. All of our plants are certified Class I facilities, and Byggbetong John Dahlgren AB is quality certified through A3CERT. Just as importantly, our people know concrete — with decades of hands-on experience of both the material and the conditions it has to withstand up here.

Sustainability is a serious part of every delivery. Our climate-improved concrete cuts CO₂ emissions while retaining the strength, quality, and lifespan that demanding projects require, and it can replace conventional concrete in most applications. For the expansion of the Rengård hydropower plant, we developed a tailor-made low-carbon mix in close dialogue with the client and contractor — saving 1,360 tonnes of CO₂. We’ve also supplied concrete to major infrastructure projects like the Norrbotniabanan railway between Umeå and Skellefteå.
